13th day / Atapuerca - Burgos

we slept in this morning knowing that our walk was short since we walked farther yesterday. after breakfast of a cola cao and croissant we left the village of atapuerca at 10:15 am. we walked with our friend andrea to burgos. he has taken to nicole as a teacher, and i like watching them interact. he told us that when we are in another country we should try to speak their language, yes, this is true. and i have not been responsible in this area, next year will be different when i return. our walk started with wind, dark clouds threatening to rain as soon as we started walking. nicole added that yes, it will rain very soon! it took awhile but indeed it wasn´t long before it started to rain. andrea and i stopped, nicole already had her rain jacket on but we needed to put ours on. it seemed another day where my jacket went on, then off, then on, then off until finally i could not stand the heat of the jacket anymore and just took it off. somewhere along the way i found a field of poppies (my favorite flower in spain) and wanted a picture with me in the center of the flowers. so there i was again, very happy, being close to the flowers that bring me so much pleasure; the other flower i love is for it´s essence: the tiger lily that is pink - i can´t think of it´s proper name. we came upon a woman who was from madrid and started walking in roncesvales, she sang us a wonderful little song from her childhood about bringing the sunshine when it is raining. after singing that song we sang singing in the rain by gene kelley arm in arm and skipping. the day was spent walking and nothing much to report. we need to get a room for the night still and make a phone call to our loved ones so they know we still exist. mcuh love to everyone - life is good, AriZona

Good Morning Mom,
Well, we're back from camping. was a beautiful day on Saturday and we enjoyed ourselves very much. Kaden went on his first fishing trip and reeled in the line all by himself, no fish though, he wouldn't quit realing in the line continually. It rained all Saturday night, so we decided to pack up early Sunday morning and head home. I thought of you and nicole walking in the rain when we did this and what a luxury it really is. I'm taking K'Anna to meet her dad this afternoon, so they can fly back to Montana, I will miss her terribly.
Hope all is well and we're thinking of you,
Love,
Crystal

Arizona it is so good to read your daily updates. We have many people and enjoying every single word! You have such a phenomenal way of writing, but you already know that I love your style. I am glad you are already planning your journey next year. I can't wait to see your photos, especially after your creative descriptions of your path, especially the flowers! I am happy you are still traveling with Andrea and look forward to meeting him during his visit to the US. Seems you and Nicole have already collected more memories in two short weeks than many people do in a lifetime of friendship. LIFE IS GOOD! May God continue to bless you both on your journey. Miss you tons and tons, Cindy xox :)

Hi Mom,

We've been reading your blogs every day and it's great to feel at least a little like we're there with you through your descriptions. It seems like it's been raining a lot, but keep your head up and remember that without the rain, the sun wouldn't seem nearly as bright and wonderful! I've got to go as Killian is getting into everything! He is now onto speed crawling from regular crawling. I love you and keep having fun on your amazing journey! Tell Nicole hi and great job!

Love you,
Chanda (and Killian)
